More than 60 years of knowledge and innovation

Our success story began in 1959 when Mr. Kannegieter started selling fine instrumentation and high-frequency cables from his bedroom in Bussum. Initially, the products were delivered from his garage (also a warehouse) to, for example, Fokker Aircraft. Heavy industrial cables were also supplied for oil platforms in the North Sea. Since then, our family business has undergone tremendous development. In 1970, we mainly supplied coaxial and twinaxial cables for mainframes, but in the 1980s, we also added the first IBM computer cabling systems, a unique offering in the market.

In 1990, we became the exclusive distributor of British Insulated Callender’s Cables (BICC, later BICC-Brand-Rex, and now Leviton), and in 1995, we opened our branch in Belgium. In the following years, our range was further expanded, for example, with network equipment. Kannegieter was also one of the first suppliers of blown fiber.

Another highlight was the establishment of the Kannegieter College in 2003, aimed at increasing the practical and technical knowledge of advisors, estimators, designers, engineers, planners, project managers, and maintenance parties. In 2005, we took the first steps with OrderExchange to exchange electronic order data. At the same time, we presented our first online catalog. In 2010, we became a distributor of Corning’s fiber optic products (the inventor of fiber optics), and to this day, we are still actively developing. Our extensive project support and logistics services are great examples of this.
